Starting New Conversations

As a patient using the SigmaMD Patient App, you have the ability to initiate new chat conversations with the practices you have active memberships.

Here's how you can navigate this feature:

Starting New Conversations

  • From the Home Screen: Click on the "Start new chat" button


  • From the Chats Tab: Navigate to the Care screen from the bottom navigation of your app. The Chats tab is the first one, click on "New chat" to start.


  • Reason for Chat: After clicking to start new chats, a screen will pop up prompting you to select the reason for this new chat. This list is defined by your doctor and helps them to manage their inbox.

    Select the reason and then click on "Start Chat" at the bottom. If available, you can choose to mark your new chat as urgent—please use this wisely.


Clinician-Initiated Chats

If a clinician starts a new visit for you, you will receive a notification on your mobile device. The conversation will appear on the top of your SigmaMD Patient App's home screen while you have not read the new messages. Afterwards, you can view all conversations from the Chats tab, inside Care.

It's essential to enable app notifications to ensure you don't miss any important communications.
